Alcohol advertising usually presents a fun and problem-free image of drinking. This can influence attitudes and choices about alcohol, especially among children and youth. Since the media plays such a large and powerful role in society, the Association to Reduce Alcohol Promotion in Ontario (ARAPO) created the Under the Influence? Educator's Toolkit to assist educators in discussing the issues of alcohol advertising and media literacy in an educational and interactive way.

Application/relevance to curriculum:

Substance Use and Abuse and Risk-Taking Behaviour expectations of Grades 7-10 Healthy Active Living Education curriculum. Media studies expectations in English curriculum.
