Approach:

This film aims to raise awareness and discussion of the risks of prescription opioid drug use through the powerful stories of real individuals, families and communities that have been affected by the consequences of opioid addiction or dependence.

Application/relevance to curriculum:

Substance Use and Abuse expectations of the Healthy & Physical Education curriculum.  Can also be used in all disciplines to promote general good health and well-being (i.e., Biology Grade 11, Guidance & Career Ed.)

Comments:

An educational resource, which can be used to reduce harm associated with opiate misuse and promote prevention, early identification and/or early intervention and enhanced community awareness of the issues.  The documentary is current, relevant and suited to today's realities - the growing problem of addiction to prescription opioid pain medication.
