APN's online services are devoted exclusively to Canadian alcohol policy issues. This site is designed to stimulate informed discussion about various aspects of alcohol policy, and to profile prevention efforts and successes of groups across Ontario.

www.camh.net – Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH)

CAMH is Canada's leading addiction and mental health teaching hospital. An enhanced toll-free information line, including information and referral specialists and audio-taped messages. A telephone support line staffed by volunteers providing informal and/or peer support. Web-based information on a range of topics is also available.

DART specializes in the provision of information and referral to treatment services related to alcohol and drugs in Ontario. DART operates a toll-free, province-wide telephone service: the Drug and Alcohol Registry of Treatment Information Line (1-800-565-8603), which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

CODA is a charitable, non-profit organization that has sponsored and continues to sponsor preventive alcohol and other drug education programs in schools for students, teachers and parents.

The Ministry of Education administers the system of publicly funded elementary and secondary school education in Ontario, in accordance with the directions set by the provincial government.

FRC supports the training, consultation, networking, and information/ dissemination needs of 22 FOCUS Community Programs across Ontario. FOCUS Community Programs provide drug and alcohol abuse prevention programming in their communities.

Health Nexus (formerly OPC) is Ontario’s leading bilingual health promotion organization. Health Nexus helps organizations and individuals develop and implement prevention and health promotion strategies, which aim to enhance well-being and reduce demand on the health care and social service systems.

Ophea is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting school communities through advocacy, quality programs and services, and partnership building. Ophea is led by the vision that all kids will value, participate in, and make a lifelong commitment to active, healthy living.

www.odap.org – Ontario Drug Awareness Partnership (ODAP)

ODAP increases the awareness of the effects of alcohol and other drugs in Ontario by encouraging and supporting the initiatives and programs of Drug Awareness Committees. This includes setting the theme for Drug Awareness Week, development and delivery of an annual campaign, development and distribution of products to support the campaign, an annual symposium, website, and ongoing presence of a coordinator.

OTRU was established in 1993 with funding from the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care to foster and conduct research, monitoring and evaluation contributing to programs and policies to eliminate tobaccorelated health problems in Ontario.

PAL assists children and youth, through outreach education, to develop the awareness and skills required to make positive lifestyle choices. PAL provides resources and support that will promote a violence-free and healthy community.

PAD's mission is to address issues of substance use among youth through outreach, prevention, education, and parent support. PAD enhances the capacity of parents, youth and communities to promote an environment that encourages youth to make informed choices.

www.ptcc-cfc.on.ca – Program Training and Consultation Centre (PTCC)

PTCC aims to improve the delivery of effective, comprehensive, tobacco use reduction interventions in Ontario by increasing the capacity of providers and organizations who engage in these activities. PTCC provides training, consultation, information, networking opportunities and referral services related to tobacco control to Ontario health promoters.

www.theotn.org – Ontario Tobacco-Free Network (OTN)

Since its inception in 2000, the OTN has developed public education campaigns for National Non-Smoking Week, World No Tobacco Day, and issue specific campaigns (eg., Go for Gold, Out of Sight-Out of Mind), enabling local tobacco-free coalitions to advocate around tobacco control issues in their communities.

Virtual Party is an interactive resource designed to provide youth with information about alcohol, other drugs and mental health issues, emphasizing healthy choices and the reduction of harm. The stories were written by groups of Ontario youth.
