What is Everyone Jump?
Everyone Jump 2008/2009 builds awareness and knowledge of the importance of healthy lifestyle behaviours such as physical activity and healthy eating as a means of type 2 diabetes prevention. Everyone Jump 2008/2009 celebrates student, classroom and school participation by providing Grade 5 classrooms in elementary schools with the opportunity to participate in an Educational Challenge. Winning entries will be recognized with a Celebration Concert live for their entire school. Student winners will be presented with a recognition plaque. All students in winning classrooms will also receive a participation certificate.
When
• The Educational Challenge kick-off date is on World Diabetes Day, November 14, 2008.
• The Educational Challenge submission deadline is January 16, 2009.
• Celebration Concerts will take place March and April 2009.

Details
The first 540 classrooms to register will be eligible to participate in the Educational Challenge. These schools will receive the new 2008/2009 Educational Challenge Manual including:
• 3 updated cross-curricular lessons plans which are directly linked to the Grade 5 curriculum (to view a current lesson click here)
• Instructions and submission forms for participating in the Educational Challenge
• Everyone Jump music CD which links directly to the lessons

The Educational Challenge allows students to work individually or collaborate with a partner or group to either:
1. Design an advertising poster to promote an understanding of diabetes.
OR
2. Create a physical activity to accompany one of the Everyone Jump songs and visually display the actions on a poster or record the activity and submit it on a DVD.
Winning entries from the Educational Challenge will be rewarded with an Everyone Jump Celebration Concert for their entire school! These fun, interactive concerts will be for all Grades at winning schools and will take place March-April 2009.

Winning entries from the physical activity category of the Educational Challenge will be published in a physical activity resource, a resource created by the students themselves.
All participating classrooms will receive a free copy of the physical activity resource containing the winning physical activity entries.
